The Early Bird Catches the Healthy Lifestyle?

I know, I know, many people who are reading this blog simply aren’t what we would refer to as “morning people”—neither am I. However, waking up early in the morning has some distinct health advantages.

So you may be wondering, could these health advantages possibly be worth the extra hour or so of sleep that I would be giving up? Although waking up early would cut into sleep time in the morning, you are encouraged to hit those eight hours of sleep by adjusting your bedtime.

Here are three reasons to wake up earlier:

1) Cooler Temperatures

With the heat often not reaching its peak until the mid-afternoon, early morning can be an incredible time to go outside and enjoy some more accessible exercise time.

2) Time

Scheduling in time to exercise can be difficult, no matter who you are. Whether you’re an athlete or simply wanting to take care of your body, exercise is important enough to plan around. Waking up early can help to plan around school, work and other obligations.

3) Energy

Speaking of work, it can be one of the biggest deterrents to proper exercise time. No one wants to come home from a long day still faced with the prospect of exercise. Waking up early starts the day right with a healthy decision and allows exercise to be checked off the list before you get home.
