Who wants to live a long and healthy life? All of us, right?
Having a support system is key to helping you establish and maintain healthy habits. Fortunately, when you have a strong family dynamic, you have a support system built in.
Let’s take a look at some easy healthy habits you can start as a family.
First, make sure that you are drinking enough water throughout the day. Don’t rely on your thirst to tell you that you need more water. By the time you feel thirsty, you may already be dehydrated.
Instead, sip water continuously throughout the day and eat foods high in water content, like berries, melons and peppers.
Second, establish a bedtime routine—for each member of the family!
Did you know that lack of sleep can have serious consequences for your physical and mental health? Set yourself up for quality sleep by creating better bedtime habits.
Start by setting a bedtime for every family member. Bedtime and wake-time should remain relatively consistent throughout the week. From there, start preparing yourself for bed an hour or so beforehand by doing relaxing activities and putting away electronics.
Finally, start exercising as a family. Exercising as a family doesn’t have to mean just going for a walk or run. When you live in east Tennessee, you can take advantage of the area by going for a hike in the Smokies or biking on a nature trail.
The sky is the limit. You just want to make sure you are setting healthy goals together and as a family.
