How to Have a Healthy Pregnancy

The 9 months of pregnancy are often some of the happiest times of a young family’s life. Not only is there all the hope and potential that comes with the start of life, but there also is an abundance of love, diligence, and care shown to the pregnant mother.

So, what can you do to ensure these 9 months are remembered for love and serve as a healthy start to your child’s life? Believe it or not, the steps you take while your child is in the womb can pave the road ahead for a lifetime.

Here are three things to avoid to ensure a healthy pregnancy:

1) Wine
Wine, or any other type of alcohol, should be avoided during a pregnancy. Not only can drinking impair judgment and lead you to make more poor decisions, consuming alcohol can also lead to developmental issues for your child.

2) Binge Eating
While it’s true that you’re likely to put on weight during a pregnancy, and while you may have certain cravings, it’s also important to remember to eat for the health of the baby. Craving a late night snack? Consider putting away the ice cream and finding a food rich in Omega-3.

3) Heat
Extreme weather, overdone physical activity, or any other physical strain can be detrimental to the health of your child. While pregnant, remember to take it easy and avoid overexerting yourself.
