Do AFC Urgent Care TN Centers Treat STDs?

We are proud to serve our communities by testing for and treating a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. Included in this comprehensive list are STDs. Your sexual health is just as important as your overall health, and we prioritize testing for and treating STDs for our communities every day.

While it may seem uncomfortable to be seen for a sexual-related illness or concerning symptoms, we don’t see it that way. Our goal is to care for you and help you feel better no matter what your concern is!

Read on as our AFC Urgent Care TN team explains more about STDs and why testing for them is important.

What Does an STD Test Entail?

There aren’t many illnesses that you can contract without experiencing any sort of symptoms, but STDs are certainly one of them. It is possible to contract an STD and walk around feeling just fine! That doesn’t mean that the STD is not dangerous, however. You could spread it to your partner without knowing it, or it could cause you to experience long-term complications later in life.

The most responsible thing to do is to get tested regularly if you are sexually active, regardless of whether you have symptoms. An STD test in our center starts with a health history and discussion of any symptoms, and then a blood draw, swab or urine sample is taken and is run through our series of tests. You will have your results in as little as 30 minutes for certain tests.

Common STDs

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Syphilis
  • HPV

Will I Get Treatment Options After an STD Test?

If any of your tests come back positive, we can come up with the right treatment plan for you. It is important that you follow your treatment plan thoroughly to ensure the STD is eradicated from your body. If you don’t, you are opening up yourself to serious health issues later in life.

Untreated STDs can cause fertility troubles, pregnancy complications and pelvic inflammatory disease. All of these issues can be avoided if you are diligent about your sexual health and routine STD testing. Stop by any day of the week and we will take care of you.

Prioritize Your Sexual Health

  • Get tested often, especially when switching partners.
  • Wear a condom.
  • Don’t hide information from your partner.
