3 Tips to Kick Your Health and Wellness Into Gear | AFC Urgent Care of East Tennessee
With Physical Wellness Month in April, our team at AFC Urgent Care TN thought it would be the perfect time to remind you why you need to stay on top of your overall health. So let’s get started!
You Need Your Physical Wellness to Be in Tip-Top Shape
No matter what task you’re taking on, consistency is key. In order to have optimal wellness, you need to be making healthy lifestyle choices every day.
Let’s take a look at some ways you can improve upon your health on a daily basis.
First, get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day on most days of the week. However, you need to make sure you are performing exercises you enjoy rather than just doing it to get your moderate physical activity in for the day. Have fun!
Walk Fido to the local dog park. Go on a scavenger hike with the kids. Attend a yoga class. Whatever it is you enjoy, that is the exercise routine you need to do. It will make you want to come back and exercise again!
Second, choose healthy foods 80 percent of the time. This allows you to have your “cheat” foods 20 percent of the time.
Fill your plate at mealtimes with fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and a small amount of healthy fat, like olive oil.
In addition, you also want to make sure you are staying hydrated. Sip water continuously throughout the day, and supplement your water intake by eating foods high in water content, like berries, melon, peppers and lettuce.
Finally, start your morning off right by making sure you get at least seven to nine hours of sleep every night.
If you want to be productive during the day, you need your sleep. If you want to be alert and focused, you need your sleep. If you want to improve your memory, you need your sleep. Sleep is just as important for your health as diet and exercise.
One other important part of staying well? Regular checkups! Visit one of our AFC Urgent Care TN locations today for a wellness exam. No appointment is necessary, and we are open seven days a week!
